A Review of the JVC HM200 HD Camcorder
I wanted an HD camcorder because our standard definition one died, that is to say, it quit recording pictures and only did sound. We needed one that did good indoor video because that’s where 90% of our videos would be taken. Since we have a huge HD television and another one on the way, plus a great computer for editing video (imac with imovie 09) I figured it was time for a true HD camcorder.
I spent several days and many long hours researching my best options. Since I live in the middle of nowhere I had no way to test in a store which options were best for me. I narrowed it down to two choices and bought the cheapest one hoping it would be good enough.
The JVC Everio HM200 is a great little HD camcorder, especially if you want to record outdoor video. It has a 20x zoom, digital image stabilization and holds two SDHC cards. It’s very small, comfortable, has a genius design for a wrist/hand strap and wraps up into a neat little package. It doesn’t come with an HDMI cable so you’ll need to buy that separately if you want to hook it to an HD TV. The biggest downfall was that the indoor video was marginal. It was sort of ok if you were watching it on a computer screen, but the minute you watched the video on an HDTV you could see unmanageable amounts of noise, digitizing almost and basically so bad you have to apologize to everyone in the room for the bad picture. Not what I wanted to see.
However, there are people who don’t care about indoor video. To them I say, buy this great little number, it’s got a lot of great features, has a very intuitive menu and I really enjoyed having it.
I recommend watching some sample videos on YouTube.com and Vimeo.com if you are unable to find a store that sells one in your area.

High Definition Camcorder Prices
High definition camcorders are hot. They are the trendiest, new things on the market. Gone are the days of old digital camcorders with what seems like now, horrible quality. Imagine recording family, events, and activities in HD. It just doesn’t have to be in the movies anymore it can be in your own home. Making a movie quality film however is probably a whole different story.
Manufacturers these days are taking advantage of HD TV and are offering devices such as these cameras that are compatible and essential to make the best viewing conditions possible. Because of the competitive nature of this market, camcorders are very affordable. Add on top of that a poor economy, most luxury items such as this are sold at an extremely cheap price so that they can still be sold and make some profit. This is the time to be buying things such as this because they will be the cheapest now.
Once again because of HDTV, HD camcorders are gaining a huge spot in the marketplace. There are a few mainstream companies that are vying for top spot including canon, nikon, and JVC. Most consumer reviews give canon cameras the gold star on getting the most bang for your buck but that doesn’t mean these other brands don’t offer some killer cameras, you just have to know how to find the best deal.
Most HD camcorders have an incredible amount of memory for the aspiring household director or just for the large amount of home videos you intend to create. There are also a few other options of cameras including the DVD camcordrs, DV camcorders, and Hard Drive camcorders.
The last option to look into are the mini HD camcorders, because they are just plain awesome. Fit into the palm of your hand and can be pulled out at a moments notice to record every day happenings.

Camera Reviews – Flip UltraHD Camcorder
Flip Video, which has recently been absorbed by Cisco, regularly releases YouTube-friendly point-and-shoot mini camcorders with the 2009 models being the two updated versions of the Ultra. The higher-end Flip UltraHD Camcorder shoots 720p (1280×720) high-definition video while the less expensive Ultra shoots 640×480 VGA video.
This new model sports a 2-inch LCD display on the back. The buttons are also bigger and the casing has a rubberized, matte finish for an easier grip. The Flip UltraHD Camcorder comes in black or white. This mini camcorder ships with a set of AA-size NiMH batteries (rechargeable) that can be charged in the unit by simply connecting the camcorder to the USB port on your computer. You can also use standard AA batteries to power this device. That standard battery backup option is a nice convenience but as standard batteries are heavier, expect to find the camcorder a bit heavier than its Li-ion powered predecessors. A HDMI output on the side is available for HDTV connections, but this time around has no bundled cable.
The Flip UltraHD Camcorder shoots 720p video at 30fps, H.264 compressed and encoded as MPEG-4. The unit lacks a memory card slot but its 8GB of internal memory allows you to record 2 hours of video and if you have a notebook or netbook handy you can offload the excess. Shooting and transferring videos to your computer or uploading them to YouTube and other video-file-sharing sites is simplicity itself. You hit the big red button to record and the play button to play back videos. It comes with 2x in digital zoom but lacks manual or advanced customization. This lack of choice makes the Flip UltraHD Camcorder perfect for the target audience as it doesn’t confuse them but the more tech-inclined may find the settings rather limiting.
Video is quite sharp and saturated for outdoor shots and was bright without being overly noisy. The audio is clear and loud. While it still can’t compare with the video produced by a real HD camcorder the video quality have definitely improved when compared to older models. Overall, the videos were smoother, sharper and have more accurate colors.
The Flip UltraHD Camcorder may not be the best-looking HD mini camcorder in the market nor is it the cheapest but it does offer relatively good video quality and ease of use. The AA battery use adds great convenience although you may want to get a tripod to use it with for best results.

Buy HD Camcorder Online
Are you looking for an HD camcorder? How much is your budget? What exactly are you going to use it for? Answer these two questions because these will help you determine what kind of HD camcorder to get.
You can’t just go out there and buy HD camcorder that you fancy. You have to think twice, sometimes thrice, before making a purchase. HD camcorders are investments.
What makes selecting the HD camcorder for you difficult is that there are so many camcorders to choose from. It’s like choosing a bunny amidst the bunch. You also have to ask yourself whether this is the good time for you to buy HD camcorder.
Is your old one not working anymore? If you are looking for another HD camcorder to replace your old one, get a model with better specs and features.
If you buy HD camcorder without knowing what to get and how much your budget is, you will be overwhelmed. To date, the variety of HD camcorders have evolved. Most of them have easy access to HDTV monitors or can easily record the video in mini DVs.
Those who want to record on DVDs or Blu-ray discs buy HD camcorders for this very reason. Why would they transfer these to flash memory cards when the camcorder they have can already do the work for them?
Before you buy HD camcorders, you have to remind yourself that all models looks great. This is a way for the producers of the camcorders to lure you into buying their products. Most HD camcorders also have the same features.
What you can do is narrow down the specs and features that you have in mind and stick to your budget. You can get the best model that you can afford. After all, if you buy HD camcorders, you are making an investment as well.
If you don’t know exactly what kind of specs you’re looking for, you have to again ask yourself what you want to do with the camcorder in the first place. If you want to upload videos to YouTube, then the most convenient way for you to do it is just use the video capabilities of an ordinary camera.
But if you are thinking of making home videos that you want to show to other people or just have a camera for personal use just in case something worth documenting happens, then go out there and buy HD camcorders.
Read the manual that you get and understand each section.
Know how to operate your HD camcorder so you know how to customize this if it allows you to do so. Make the most out of your investment.

Flip HD Camcorder – Does This Mini Cam Live Up to the Promises?
It’s finally out! With much anticipation, the Flip HD camcorder is now for sale. While many people are in a rush to get excited about the ‘latest and greatest’ thing; is this device really worth all the fuss?
First, it’s helpful to fully understand the features. The MinoHD is literally the smallest HD camcorder that has ever been made. It certainly won’t weigh you down at a mere 3.3 ounces. That means you can carry it with you wherever you go. That’s handy, but sometimes a small size can be cumbersome.
The next feature you’ll be interested in is the storage capacity. This holds a full 60 minutes. The plus here, and it’s a big one, is that you won’t have to buy tapes or memory cards to get this to hold your video. That means less problems for you when you can’t find the tape!
Another feature is the flip-out USB arm. When you usually upload video to your computer you have to do so through a special device or a standard USB cable. While some camcorders do include them you often have to buy them on your own. That makes the Flip HD a great deal- it’s just a matter of flipping out the arm and popping it in the slot. So, that’s a plus.
The resolution is where the HD fanatics start to get a little worried. Thankfully, there is really no reason to be too worried here. It is true HD, though not top of the line. You’ll enjoy 720p with the Flip HD camcorder.
Finally, there are so many people who want to stay as connected as possible to the world these days. That means uploading your video to sites like YouTube and Myspace. There is software included with this package that will pretty much do that automatically for you, save some hook ups and signing in. If you aren’t a fan of those sites then this feature won’t mean much to you.

Flip Ultra HD Camcorder – A Fun, Pocket-Friendly Device For the Whole Family
The first word that comes to mind when trying to review the Flip Ultra HD Camcorder is simply “simple”. This pocket-sized camcorder is so easy to use right out of the box that you simply point the camera and press the large button and start recording quality videos. The camera does everything else from figuring out the focus and the lighting to shooting video in high-definition.
When you have finished taking the video, simply flip out (thus the name) the convenient USB plug, connect it to your computer and watch the video right on your computer screen. The Flip Ultra HD Camcorder also includes some pretty cool software that uploads your video and allows you to edit then transfer your videos to YouTube, MySpace, or any other video friendly website on the net. Simply turn the camcorder on, press record and you will be taking quality HD videos in no time.
Since I am by no means an electronics guru or video wizard, my review of the Flip Ultra HD Camcorder focuses simply on how easy it is to take quality videos, with a pocket-friendly, easy to use, high-definition and inexpensive video camcorder. With that focus in mind, I can’t help but think about another way to describe this mini camcorder – “piece of cake”.
Changing the double A batteries or using the included rechargeable pack, using the built in software to edit, organize and share your videos, and even connecting the small device to your HD television are all a piece of cake. It is so easy to make quality videos that even I have been able to post some quality videos on YouTube for all my family to share.
The Ultra is the perfect camcorder for the person on the go. It’s the only camcorder I have found which fits into your pocket and is ready in a flash to capture those secret videos.

Flip was one of the first brands in the market to bring us affordable and ultra-portable mini HD camcorders. Models like the Creative Labs Vado and the Kodak model have tones of ‘extra’ features, but do not record videos as well as the Flip UltraHD. It currently costs around $166 each. If you are currently in the market for a mini HD camcorder, the Flip UltraHD will be your best bet.
