Best HD Camcorder Reviews

Because of the broader color space, advanced compression algorithms, and higher resolution, HD Camcorder Reviews have mostly been positive. These changes improved the video quality of the camcorder and home movies are viewed better.

Though the prices for these HD camcorders may be a little steep, people still invest in HD camcorder after they read HD Camcorder reviews. They are convinced that this is the camcorder for them. Despite the competition in the camcorder market, people who are ready to go HD opt for this model.

Because of the education they acquire from HD Camcorder reviews, they are ready to purchase their very own.

The HD camcorder is more expensive than its competition but one of the best brands to get is the Canon Vixia HF20. It delivers an extensive range of features which make the price worth paying for.

It may not have internal memory but it is a better buy than the previously released camcorder models because it has a classier look to it.

The Canon Vixia HF20, as stated in HR Camcorder reviews has excellent video quality and a functional design. The downside for any consumer is that it is quite expensive when compared to other HD camcorders.

But the bottom line is that, the extra amount that the buyer pays for is for the extensive feature set. To elaborate, it follows the models HF20 and HF200 and continues to uphold the legacy.

The only difference it has between the two is that the Canon Vixia HF20 has built in memory configuration. The color is also different.

It is smaller and less powerful than the previous models HFS10 and HFS100. However, all models offer the user a powerful zoom lens and high resolution sensor. According to HD Camcorder reviews, the Canon Vixia HF20 supplies the enthusiast with manual control dial, color bars, pop up flash and zebra stripes.

This is definitely an upgrade from the previously released models. The Canon Vixia HF20 may be more expensive than the Panasonic’s HDC-TM20 and SD20 as well as Sony Handycam HDR-CX100 but the features are really appealing. With the Canon Vixia HF20, the user can have the headphone jack, accessory shoe, and microphone input regardless the size.

A downside is that like the previous models, the Canon Vixia HF20 lacks an eye level EVF. The HD Camcorder reviews state that so that the user knows what he is getting into if he does buy the camcorder.

A Review of the Canon Vixia HF200 HD Camcorder

After a lot of hours and many days researching the best HD camcorders in the $450-$600 price range, I finally settled on two choices. I ended up getting the Canon Vixia HF200 because it was reported to have really good indoor video quality for its price range.

In a high definition camcorder the sensor size is important. Even though the HF200 has the same sensor size as many others in its price range, it is somehow able to do things with that image that others can’t. In a nutshell, it’s picture quality, even for indoor video, is quite amazing. It’s to be expected that it won’t be perfect, and won’t be as good as outdoor video. But if you are like me and take most of your videos inside then you don’t want a camera that will ruin those memories. The Canon seems to have more than enough ability to take great images.

The price is about $600 right now, although I have seen as high as $750. It records to SDHC cards so you don’t have to worry about the internal harddrive freezing up and losing any precious memories. You can buy these cards for pretty cheap and the prices are always dropping.

The HF200 doesn’t come with an HDMI cable for direct hookup to an HD TV, you’ll want to buy one yourself. Be sure to get a mini HDMI to HDMI cable as the port size on the camcorder is smaller than standard TV ports.

This model fits snugly in your hard and isn’t too heavy. It’s compact, will fit in a jacket pocket and has a lot of internal controls for adjusting white balance, zoom and a variety of other things in case you want to tweak your videos to perfection.

Canon Vixia HF200 HD Camcorder Review

Design: This model uses a 15x zoom lens and a 4-megapixel sensor. The Canon Vixia HF200 has a subtle yet stylish design; but overall, maintains the looks of a traditional HDD camcorder. At 13.9 ounces and 2.8-inch-by-2.4-inch-by-4.9-inch dimensions the camcorder fits comfortably into a jacket pocket. The grip is very comfortable, where the photo button and zoom rocker is slightly elevated for a more natural fit. The 2.7-inch display does pretty well in direct sunlight.

Specifications: The Canon Vixia HF200 uses the typical CMOS of a higher end model with video capture offering a maximum 24Mbps bit rate and at 17Mbps. This model works best with at least a Class 4 SDHC card. The camcorder’s 15x optical zoom focuses very accurately and quickly, even in dim lighting conditions. Battery life is about 1.5 hours. The optical stabilizer worked very well, even at high zooms.

Features & Performance: It is safe to say that when it comes to features and performance, this model is currently one of the best in the market. It performed really well while videos at both 17Mbps and 24Mbps The Canon Vixia HF200 also incorporates Video Snapshots but the main draw is that the video looks great. It was surprisingly (but pleasantly) sharp with excellent exposures, saturated colors and relatively few out-of-whack highlights. Audio recording was crisp and clear as well. All in all, the Canon Vixia HF200 offers excellent video quality along with a much more extensive feature set for the digital video recording enthusiast. It is the perfect choice for anyone who is looking for a top-notch HD camcorder

High Definition Camcorder Comparisons

There are few main brands to consider when looking into getting a high definition camera. Canon, Nikon, JVC, and many others. Canon dominates the market right now with some of the best cameras but that doesn’t mean you can’t find great deals on other brands. Canon cameras come in diverse formats of recording that includes mainly flash memory. It also brings 5 new VIXIA camcorders that include even more features like the ability to store and share memories. Canon is typically one of three top companies to earn the larges number of patents over the last fifteen years. They work on improving the common good and living and working together in harmony.

There are two new videoclips out by canon that have the potential to increase the technology in the camera world. They are constantly improving their HD Camcorders, including professional models such as the new XH A1S and XH G1S being the most recent models to be upgraded. Both of these HD camcorders incorporate enhanced new features for enhanced operation, including even better image control and improved audio capabilities. The Canon EOS 20DCanon does a pretty good job making a camera as well and also has many improved features.

One other brand to highlight would be JVC. They have also used passive components, which are notably smaller parts. They have decreased the size of their cameras by almost thirty percent. They use fujinon mounting technology which until now has only been used in professional models. Their cameras are usually compact with incredible resolution capability.

Creative Labs Vado HD Mini Camcorder – A Complete Review

Creative have traditionally been all about personal computer products with particular attention paid to all things involving sound. Their HD audio creations are at the top of the game and offer personal computer users an alternative to drab sounding built-in integrated audio. Their media players are also fast gaining on market leaders, carving out a sizable niche market for those who don’t want to own an iPod. With their Vado product line gaining acceptance in the mini-camcorder market the company have released the Creative Labs Vado HD Mini Camcorder which offers an incredible feature-set and ultra cool design in a bid to further increase their hold on the fledgling market.

While the Creative Labs Vado HD retains many of the appealing design traits of the original Vado, including an ample 2-inch anti-glare LCD it comes with some small modifications. The camcorder comes in black and its lens extends out from the body instead of being slightly recessed. This new model is a little thicker and weighs little more and the microphone has been shifted to the other side of the lens. More importantly, the camcorder offers a mini HDMI connector for outputting 1080i video to your HDTV along with a standard composite AV output, something which no other competitor within its class can boast. Surprisingly, Creative have also bundled an HDMI cable, which adds reasonable value. On top of this it comes with 8GB of built-in memory for up to 2 hours worth of HD video.

The Creative Labs Vado HD offers a protective silicone skin and a more robust software package for tweaking your videos after you shoot them. It captures H.264 encoded videos at 30 frames per second with a 1280×720 CMOS sensor, but saves them as AVI instead of MPEG-4. With about 2 hours of battery life you might want to consider getting a few more battery packs. You can also record 640×480 VGA videos.

The rubberized finish feels nice, but it absorbs stains more easily than cameras with a regular plastic finish. Like other mini camcorders of its class, the Creative Labs Vado HD has a USB arm that can be flipped out to connect to other devices. The batteries are charged through the USB port. All in all, the software is simple to use and the interface elegant. There’s not a ton of features but there’s enough to help you make a little more out of your videos without having to turn to another software package.

While the software is designed for Windows users, Mac users can manually drag and copy their videos from the camcorder to the computer and then upload them to YouTube or import them into iMovie or another editing package. In other words, the camcorder is geared toward Windows users first, but is fully compatible with Macs.

Video quality for the Creative Labs Vado HD is impressive. While this is not a true HD video camcorder, the key is that you can view videos at full screen size on your computer and they remain relatively sharp. Creative has bumped up the contrast, saturation, and sharpness so the video makes a better first impression, but it doesn’t adjust exposure very quickly while the white-balance is slightly off.

Low light performance was good with relatively clean audio as the tiny mic does a creditable job of picking up sound. All in all the Creative Labs Vado HD Mini Camcorder is one of the better mini-camcorders in the market with a definite edge in features and maybe design, particularly if you want the larger LCD to go with the solid 720p video and YouTube or Photobucket compatibility. The bundled mini HDMI connector and cable for outputting 1080i video to an HDTV are good value-added features.
